1 Man Accused In Car Burglaries String Arrested In Tarpon Springs

​Since May 30, Tarpon Springs police have responded to 12 vehicle burglaries in the southwest portion of the city.

TARPON SPRINGS, FL — One man has been arrested and another is at large following a series of 12 vehicle burglaries that began May 30 in the southwest portion of the city.

On Thursday at 3:28 a.m., Tarpon Springs police responded to 790 Arthurs Court for a report of a vehicle burglary in progress after the burglars activated the homeowner's Ring surveillance camera, which alerted the homeowner.

Tarpon Springs police and the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office set up a perimeter and a K-9 apprehended Keyanta K. Washington, 22, of the 700 block of Lime Street in Tarpon Springs.

Washington was charged with two counts of burglary and one count of loitering and prowling.

Tarpon Springs police is seeking the identity of the second person. Anyone with information should call 727-937-6151.

All the cars burglarized were unlocked. Police are reminding residents to lock their cars and not to leave valuables, firearms or keys in their vehicles.
