9/11 Memorial Ceremony Offers Chance to Pay Tribute to Fallen

The ceremony is set to start at 9 a.m. at the city's permanent 9/11 memorial display.

The Tarpon Springs city government is invioting the public to its memorial ceremony dedicated those who were slain in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

The memorial ceremony starts at 9 a.m. at the city’s 9/11 memorial display at the city public safety facility at 444 Huey Street.  City officials are expected to speak.

This is the first year the city will hosty its ceremony at its own 9/11 memorial display.

The display, which includes a pattern of bricks forming a badge, a model of the World Trade Center and a stone memorial slab, was completed last year after the anniversary 9/11.

The Fire Rescue Squad obtained a  scrap of the Trade Center and used it  as part of the sculpture.
