Biking, Running, Swimming To Raise Funds For Tarpon Springs Youth

On September 7, 2013, the Rotary Club of Tarpon Springs will sponsor the 24th Annual Triathlon. The event is comprised of swimming, biking, and running.
The race begins and ends at Fred Howard Park, located at 1700 Sunset Dr. Â
Each year, the triathlon attracts more than 1500 people to the area. About 500 participants from all over Florida compete in the race. As of Friday, June 28, 120 people had registered for the 24th Annual Triathlon.Â
The competition involves a a quarter mile swim in the Gulf of Mexico at 7:30 a.m. The swim is followed by bicycling and running around bayous in Tarpon Springs.Â
In 2012, Eric Hall, 33, of Tampa was the first place Overall Male Champion, who finished in 46:34 minutes. The first place Overall Female Champion was Kristin Freeman, 39, of Tampa, who finished in 52:54 minutes. Â

All proceeds are used by the TS Rotary to fund scholarships and other programs for area youth.
