Now Open: 701 Taphouse

With food as appealing as its drinks, the new restaurant and bar is creating a buzz in Tarpon Springs.

Although many were sad to see the Black Grouper close in late 2012, the void has been filled by a new Tarpon Springs business, 701 Taphouse.

The name suggests adult beverages, which are available in addition to the traditional offerings like soda, water and tea.

Boasting more than a dozen imported as well as craft and domestic beers, 701 Taphouse has a little bit of everything.

Large, flat screen televisions line the interior of the cozy space. Seating ranges from high tops to tables and bar stools, indoors while a dog friendly patio, outside offers tables as well.

701 Taphouse isn't just buzzing due to its friendly atmosphere and ice cold brews. The food is something to talk about as well.

For the appetizer enthusiast, the menu showcases a lengthy list of "starters," "more starters," and "even more starters." From quesadillas and nachos to mini chicken cutlets and crispy calamari, the appetizers are enough to have their own menu.

Of course, there are other portions available like soups, salads and burgers. But 701 Taphouse also has a dinner menu with plates ranging from a New York strip or an ahi filet to baked ziti or baby back ribs.

Dessert? They've got that covered too with items like the funnel fries and a hot fudge sundae.

Pricing varies from a $5.99 appetizer to a $19.99 entree.

701 Taphouse is located at 701 N. Pinellas Ave.
