PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — A pedestrian is in serious condition after being struck by a car Monday at Alderman Road west of U.S. 19.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 12:43 p.m., Frances Vasques, 68, of Palm Harbor was walking on the sidewalk along the south shoulder of Alderman Road just west of U.S. 19 at the entrance to the UPS store when she was struck by a Honda Accord driven by Lorraine M. Lemire, 78, of Tarpon Springs.

Troopers said Lemire was exiting the driveway of the UPS store and didn't see Vasques walking across the entrance way.

Lemire was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian.
