Police: Tarpon Springs Motorist Hits Bicyclists, Vehicle

According to the Times, Police officers arrested a man after her drove into two individuals with his car. Police say they later found a butcher knife on the floor in front of the driver's seat.

On Sunday around 8 p.m. David and Wendy Kaplan were driving on N. Spring Blvd., near the intersection of Grand Blvd. when they honked at a Toyota Camry that failed to stop at a stop sign, the Times reports.

According to the Times, Police say the Camry then followed the Kaplans before hitting them and driving away.

Later that evening, the same vehicle nearly hit two bicyclists on N. Pinellas Ave. One of the cyclists yelled at the driver, according to the Times.

The Camry backed up and proceeded to run into the pair before leaving the scene, the Times reports.

Elizabeth Ortiz, 39, and William Torres, 27,  were treated for nonlife-threatening injuries, according to the Times.

Tarpon Springs Police charged 39-year-old resident John Wayne Dorminy with two counts of aggravated battery with a motor vehicle, carrying a concealed weapon, leaving the scene of an accident and possession of an open container, according to the Times.
