Proposed EMS Changes Could Save More Than $6 Million
A plan to cut paramedic first responders from 24 hour shifts to 14 hour shifts could save the county $6.3 million.

A plan to cut the shifts of the paramedic first responders could save Pinellas county $6.3 million, according to an article on TBO.com.
The plan comes from a study that was put on by Fitch and Associates on how to reduce the rising EMS costs across the county.
Under the plan, paramedics who serve as first responders for 911 calls would change from a 24 hour shift to a 14 hour shift.
Each fire district would have to approve the plan for their area and changes would not likely come before 2015.
