Sunshine Provides Water To Tarpon Springs Residents

TARPON SPRINGS, FL — In the Sunshine State, this resource is in abundance, and the city of Tarpon Springs is making good use of it.

The city has installed a 9,023-square-foot, 162 kilowatt solar system to provide renewable power to alternative water production facility.

The system is designed to provide an annual production of more than 269,000 kilowatt hours and has a 25-year life expectancy.

The project is now complete and is supplying solar power to the facility. Early data suggest up to 25 percent of power requirements are being supplied by the solar system during periods of lower water production and peak solar production.

This is the first phase of several planned for solar panel installation across the site.
