Tarpon Springs Marching Band Makes Grand National Semifinals

The competition in Indianapolis draws international attention, and the Tarpon Springs High School Marching Band has shown it is a cut above the rest.

After hundreds of practices and thousands of hours of preparation, the Tarpon Springs High School Marching Band has advanced to the semifinal round of performances at the Grand National Championship in Indianapolis.

Since Wednesday, the Tarpon Springs band has been showcasing its skills in preliminary performances.

The Grand National Championship is recognized worldwide as a contest of only the most elite, young artists.

Of the 87 bands at the championship, only 30 made it into today's semifinals today. 

The Grand National Champion, to be crowned Saturday night, will be invited to perform in the 2014 Rose Parade at the Pasadena Tournament of Roses.

The Tarpon band will perform at 2:30 p.m. today to decide if it will make it into the finals.
