TARPON SPRINGS, FL — Tarpon Springs Police have arrested a 17-year-old teen for a shooting that injured a bystander at Dorsett Park.

According to Tarpon Springs Police, at 3:42 p.m. Sept. 30, a group of people were playing basketball at the park at 500 E. Harrison St. when a vehicle drove by and its occupants began firing guns at the players.

A Tarpon Springs police office was at the nearby Cops 'n Kids Youth Center when he heard the gunshots and saw several vehicles leaving the park.

The gunshot victim was watching the game when he was wounded. He was driven to AdventHealth North Pinellas for treatment.

On Oct. 7, police arrested a teen who lives on Oakwood Street and charged him with the shooting. The teen had outstanding warrants for violation of probation at the time of his arrest.
