Tarpon Springs To Host Pinellas Preservation Summit

The free event is open to Pinellas County homeowners, architects and contractors interested in restoring historic structures.

TARPON SPRINGS, FL – Restoring historic properties can be a labor of love, but Pinellas County and the City of Tarpon Springs are looking to help residents learn about what actually goes into working on these important structures.

The Pinellas County Historic Preservation Board and the City of Tarpon Springs will host a Historic Preservation Summit on Wednesday, Oct. 11 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Heritage Museum, 100 Beekman Lane in Tarpon Springs.

The summit is geared toward homeowners, architects and contractors interested in restoring historic properties as well as anyone interested in learning more about historic preservation and the process of protecting cultural heritage.

Attendees will have an opportunity to learn more about the county’s historic preservation network and will get to meet other leaders who work preserving historic properties.

The Pinellas County Historic Preservation Board was established to promote the importance of historic preservation and jurisdiction in unincorporated Pinellas County to protect cultural resources through establishing local landmarks and historic districts.

In 2015, the National Park Service and the State of Florida honored Pinellas County as a Certified Local Government for its ongoing commitment to historic preservation.
