Tarpon Springs Named America's No. 1 Marching Band

Tarpon Springs brought home a first-place win in the 2014 Grand National Championships.

Tarpon Springs High School’s marching band recently faced off against 12 other ensembles from around the country to determine the best of the best.

When all was said and done at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis Saturday, Tarpon’s 2014 show, titled “Man vs. Machine,” earned a near-perfect score. With a 97.15 in the finals, the Bay area band narrowly edged out Oklahoma’s Broken Arrow High School and its 97 score. The win gave Tarpon the 2014 Grand National Champion title.

The Tarpon Springs band has won the Division AA Bands of America National Championships five times in the past and was one of only 11 bands from across the country to appear in the 2013 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
