Tarpon Springs Police Warn Residents Of Phone Scam
An elderly resident received a phone call from someone who said he was a Tarpon Springs Police detective.

TARPON SPRINGS, FL — Tarpon Springs Police are warning residents of a phone scam after receiving a report Thursday from an elderly person who received a phone call from someone who said he was a Tarpon Springs Police detective.
The fake detective said the person needed to provide him with financial compensation or an arrest warrant would be issued.
The elderly resident purchased a gift card and gave the fake detective the information to activate it.

Tarpon Springs Police reminds residents that no member of law enforcement will ever request financial compensation, in any form, to prevent the issuance of an arrest warrant.
People who have received similar calls are asked to call police at 727-937-6151 or 727-937-6152.
