Triathletes Race Through Howard Park

The Tarpon Springs Triathlon, hosted by the Tarpon Springs Rotary club, drew triathletes from throughout the Tampa Bay area Sept. 7

About 600 people raced through Howard Park at the break of day for a charity triathlon that benefits local youth.

The Tarpon Springs Triathlon, hosted by the Tarpon Springs Rotary club,  drew triathletes from throughout the Tampa Bay area Sept. 7. The triathlon is hosted by the Tarpon Springs Rotary Club and raises money for local youth programs.

Starting early in the morning, they swam through the Gulf Of Mexico, biked through the park and surrounding neighborhoods and  and then ran back across the causeway to the beach at Fred Howard.

Final results are still pending, but preliminary results for the men's division showed the following:

·      Nicholas Sterghos, 26, recorded the fastest time in the men’s division (46:10)

·      Jeff Hoffman,,34, recorded the fastest time in the men’s 30-34 division (56:41.6)

·      Adam Hasebroock, 36, scored the fastest time in the men’s 35-39 division (55:30.3)

·      Mitch Walker, 42, recorded the fastest time in the men’s 40-44 division (55:40)

·      Dave Bracken, 45, recorded the fastest time in the men’s 45-49 division (54:49)
