2019 Buckhead Neighborhood Tour of Homes Announced
A select group of time-honored homes invite guests in for a journey through the past.
ATLANTA -- Brookwood Hills Friends is pleased to announce the fifth biennial Brookwood Hills Home Tour, featuring four historic homes in the Brookwood Hills neighborhood of Buckhead. The signature fundraising event is the Brookwood Hills Friends group’s largest and will benefit the newly opened Center for Advanced Pediatrics at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. It is set to take place on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
With a “History Reimagined” theme, the tour will showcase three unique homes, all beautifully renovated with 21st century updates that enhance their historic charm, along with a fourth more modern abode that incorporates period design elements that blend seamlessly with the surrounding neighborhood. Attendees will receive insight into the history and renovation process behind the current design schemes of each property during the tour.
Here are descriptions of the four homes:

- This home, owned by empty nesters from Moultrie, Georgia is a stunning mix of old and new. A robust collection of antiques lends interest and variety to a modern interior design, and the newly installed steel cased doors open to a breathtaking outdoor living space designed by architect Gary Fowler and landscaper Carson McElheney.
- Multi-generational owners had the opportunity to update this childhood home designed by famed Atlanta architect Francis Palmer Smith. Renovation architect Frank Neely and builder Patrick Davey reimagined the downstairs layout with a connecting family room by adding 10 feet to the back, enclosing a deck and adding a side porch. Jessica Bradley Interiors joined heirloom furnishings with fresh finds, using a soft color palette that flows throughout the home.
- Updated to match a casual lifestyle, this charming 1920s home bridges modern and classic touches. By eliminating the conventional dining room to add flexible space and building a cedar porch flanked by a stately hearth, D. John Design and Atlanta Construction King aimed to reflect the homeowners’ edited aesthetic. Landscaping was completed by Ed Castro who re-designed the driveway and rear yard.
- This glamorous and sophisticated home features clean lines, elegant lighting, wall-to-wall glass, and contemporary furnishings. Nina Nash and Don Easterling of Mathews Furniture served as the design team for this full renovation, while Viking Works executed the outdoor expansion, transforming an empty backyard into an urban oasis complete with pool house overlooking a saltwater pool.
Accompanying the tour of homes, The Brookwood Hills Patron Party will be held on Thursday evening, April 25, near what will be soon be the neighborhood’s newly restored and enhanced park, with financing provided by the event’s presenting sponsor, Atlantic Capital Bank.
The tour is organized by volunteers with the Brookwood Hills Friends group, one of more than 30 community volunteer groups supporting the goal of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta to make Georgia a safer, healthier place for children to grow.
