ATLANTA ? A Buckhead restaurant worker shot outside his job Sunday night told police that several 9-1-1 calls went unanswered.

The shooting took place in the rear parking lot of Kyma, at 3085 Piedmont Road sometime before 8 p.m., according to Atlanta Police reports. The man was shot in the arm, police said.

But an apparent call from a co-worker to an off-duty cop is what spurred police response, based upon a police radio dispatch recording released Tuesday by Atlanta Police.

?I think somebody was trying to break into his vehicle,? the off-duty officer said to the female dispatcher. ?I?m just trying to get this information out because they called 9-1-1 but nobody was able to answer.?

During the radio call from the officer, a second voice came on and asked the off-duty officer for more information, to which the officer said, ?they called 9-1-1 several times (and) it kept going to voice mail. I?m putting it over the radio right now.?

The second dispatch voice, a male, demanded that someone from the restaurant call 9-1-1 again.

?Whoever is the caller who got shot, they need to call 9-1-1 or have someone who?s at the scene call 9-1-1 right now so that we have a contact and so we have someone to meet up with,? the male dispatcher said.

A second recording of an apparent subsequent 9-1-1 call from a woman at the restaurant described the location and was met with an operator who said, ?We do have police officers en route to that location now.?

The caller described two men escaping in a black mid-2010s Honda Civic with back windows shot out. The victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition, police said.
