Act3 Productions Wins Nine Metropolitan Atlanta Theatre Awards
Awards range from best choreography to Best Director for a Musical.

Sandy Springs, GA – Act3 Productions, Sandy Springs’ semi-professional theatre company has won nine Metropolitan Atlanta Theatre (MAT) Awards, ranging from best choreography to Best Director for a Musical. The honors were announced at an awards ceremony Sunday at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center.
The cast of Big Fish garnered five awards, including best actress and actor. In addition to the Moira Thornett Director’s Award, the show Godspell also received two additional recognitions, and Jillian Melko received Best Costume Design of a Play for The Graduate.
“The MAT awards are not only wonderful for recognizing individual theater professionals and stand-out performances, but the organization also brings us all together to celebrate the exceptional work begin done by theaters throughout the city,” said Michelle Davis, Act3 Productions’ artistic director. “The attention they generate helps fill seats, plus it raises the bar for all of our artistic and technical work.”

Best Choreography – Johnna Mitchell and Janie Young – Big Fish
Best Actress in a Minor Supporting Role in a Musical – Ella Chamis – “The Witch” – Big Fish
Best Actor in a Minor Supporting Role in a Musical – Matt Alea – “Disciple” – Godspell
Best Sound Design of a Musical – Ben Sterling – Godspell
Best Major Supporting Actor in a Musical – John Coombs – “Karl” – Big Fish
Moira Thornett’s Best Director for a Musical – Andrew Berardi and Michell Davis – Big Fish
Best Leading Actor in a Musical – Stephen DeVillers – “Edward Bloom” – Big Fish
