Ash Wednesday Service at Covenant Presbyterian Church March 6

The 7 p.m. Ash Wednesday service at Buckhead's Covenant Presbyterian Church is open to all.

Covenant Presbyterian Church will begin the Lenten Season on Wednesday, March 6, with a casual supper at 6 p.m. followed by a solemn Ash Wednesday worship service in the chapel at 7 p.m., open to all who wish to participate. “The 30-minute service will include music by Covenant’s choir and the imposition of ashes,” said Rev. Dr. Richard Hill, senior pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church. “The service calls forth our need for humility and repentance, as we hear the words of Genesis 3:19, Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return”. Ash Wednesday ushers in the 40 days of Lent, where Christians are encouraged to study and reflect on their faith. Lent will culminate in a joyful Easter worship service, Sunday, April 21.

“During the six Sundays of Lent, the adult Sunday School class will focus on spiritual disciplines,” said Rev. Katie Owen Aumann, associate pastor. “Participants will explore both traditional spiritual disciplines like fasting, centering prayer, tithing and keeping Sabbath, as well as examine more creative spiritual disciplines including service and vocational discernment. Sunday School begins at 9:30 a.m. and everyone is welcome.”
