City of Atlanta Watershed Management Public Notice

PUBLIC NOTICE

The City of Atlanta is considering the construction of a waste water Pump Station that will be capable of handling 300 gallons of sewage per minute. The Woodward Way Pump Station will accept sanitary sewer flows from the Old Field Road and Woodward Way area via a proposed 8- inch gravity sewer. It will be constructed to replace an existing pump station, located near the intersection of Northside Drive and Woodward Way, currently in need of upgrades. The proposed pump station and gravity sewer will consist of 2 submersible pumps, a concrete wet well, approximately 2,000 linear feet of 8-inch ductile iron pipe, a 4-inch force main, and a standby generator that will be placed on an elevated platform. Landscaping will be placed around the pump station to help it blend into the neighborhood. This project is a part of the City of Atlanta’s efforts to comply with the First and Second Amended Consent Decrees. The pump station will sit on the parcels that once held residential properties at 609 Woodward Way Ave.

Pursuant to FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program deed restrictions, Section 1.a. allows for “Sewer, water, and power to serve the allowable uses and sewer, water and power line crossings where there is no floodwater obstruction created and there are no other readily available locations for these systems…”. The public is invited to participate in identifying and analyzing any impact this proposed project may have.
