Covenant Presbyterian Church will begin celebrating the Season of Advent on Sunday, Dec. 2, leading up to a beautiful Candlelight Christmas Eve service on Monday, Dec. 24 at 5:30 p.m. In the Christian church, Advent is the traditional time of worship and preparation for the birth of Jesus, which lasts through the four Sundays prior to Christmas Day. All are invited to join Covenant’s congregation for some or all of the Christmas season worship services in the church’s sanctuary, located at 2461 Peachtree Road in Buckhead. Each week of Advent will feature a special guest artist for Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. and in worship at 11 a.m.:
- Dec. 2: Amina McIntyre, Creative Worship Artist
- Dec. 9: Darci Jaret, Visual Art as Sacred Devotion
- Dec. 16: Gad Mpoyo, Shalom International Ministry in Clarkston
- Dec. 23: The Art of Marianna Lines, Hand-colored Natural Dye Impressions of the Pictish Symbol Stones of Ancient Scotland
The Candlelight Christmas Eve service will include a musical prelude at 5:30 p.m., and the service will begin at 6 p.m. Free parking is available on the top deck of Peachtree Battle Shopping Center immediately south of the church.
“With the natural disasters, shootings, and political tension this fall, everyone needs to find ‘peace on earth and good will to all’,” said Rev. Richard Hill, Covenant's senior pastor. "We welcome anyone looking for peace and hope to join us throughout the Christmas season and especially on this Holy Night to be inspired by the music, message, and communion by candlelight."
