Democratic National Convention 2020 Includes Some Georgia Names

ATLANTA, GA — The Democratic National Convention kicks off Monday, but due to the pandemic things will have to go all virtual.

The Democratic party will broadcast two hours of prime-time programming Monday through Thursday, according to its website.

Former gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams will join State Rep. Sam Park for a joint keynote Tuesday night. Former United States Attorney General and Atlanta-native Sally Yates will also speak Tuesday.

Top speakers for day one include former first lady Michelle Obama, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and a Republican — former Ohio Gov. John Kasich.

Joe Biden will not be in the host city of Wisconsin, but will instead give his acceptance speech from Delaware, reported WSB.

In a CNN poll released Sunday night, 50 percent of registered voters backed Biden to President Donald Trump's 46 percent, which is right at the poll's margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
