Did Crime Really Force Botanico To Flee Buckhead?

Botanico says it is relocating because of crime in Buckhead, but the dining news site Eater Atlanta says not so much.

ATLANTA — Did crime really force a year-old Buckhead eatery to close its doors?

That assertion, made by the owners of Botanica Kitchen and Bar on social media and their website, is not true, say the keen dining journalists at Eater Atlanta.

A message to customers posted on Instagram and plastered across their home page in February said, “the increase in criminal activity in the area and a concern for the safety and experience of our customers” prompted the closure of the club-like Pharr Road restaurant, with a promise to relocate and “reinvent the brand.”

Not so, claims Eater Atlanta, citing a conversation with a representative from neighboring SaviProvisions.

Neither Botanico Chef Luis Damian nor Grupo Botanico owner Angel Rivera could be reached by Patch for comment.

It remains to be seen where and when Botanico will turn up.
