Family of Woman Killed in Buckhead Condo Fire: "She Was a Free Spirit"
Rachel Thorn died this past Sunday after her condominium complex caught on fire.

ATLANTA, GA -- The family of the woman who died in a Sunday morning Buckhead condo fire is speaking for the first time since the tragedy.
Rachel Thorn, 36, was died in a fire that began around 4 am Sunday at the Pharr Manor Condominiums. It quickly spread to the other three units in the building and into the attic.
Thorn was found inside the building suffering from severe burns. Crews went up the stairs and found her unconscious and not breathing, Stafford said. Thorn had burns over 40 percent of her body and was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

A man in the first-floor unit was transported with minor burns to his head, Stafford said. The initial investigation suggests the blaze started as a cooking fire in his kitchen.
Thorn’s dog was also killed in the fire.

Thorn’s sister told Channel 2 Action News, ““There’s just a hole in our hearts where Rachel used to be ... She was just a free spirit.”
