Could fireworks get rained out? And how hot will Independence Day be? Read all about the holiday week forecast here.

ATLANTA, GA — It's Independence Day week in metro Atlanta. Which means it's summertime in Georgia. Which ... yes ... means we'll be watching the skies for showers and thunderstorms as we head out to celebrate the Fourth.

There's a chance for thunderstorms every day this week, according to the National Weather Service. On Wednesday, a 40 percent chance for rain kicks in at about 9 a.m. and lasts all day. We'll have that same 40 percent chance after dark, so keep an eye on the latest forecasts before heading out to enjoy the fireworks shows in the metro Atlanta area.

There's some good news for folks planning to travel on Tuesday. There's only a 20 percent chance of rain that day — the lowest chance of showers and thunderstorms all week. If you're heading home on Thursday, though, that chance will jump up to 50 percent, the NWS says.
