Georgia Weather Forecast: The Storms Are Back
See when it's most likely to get stormy in metro Atlanta this weekend and when the rain is expected to let up.

ATLANTA, GA — After a clear and sunny work week, the summer storms in metro Atlanta are expected to kick back up, starting this weekend.
The National Weather Service warns that isolated to scattered thunderstorms can be expected in north Georgia on Friday, continuing into Friday night. A few of those storms could be strong Friday afternoon and evening, the NWS said, with gusty winds, frequent lightning and heavy rain.
That's just the front end of a storm system that's expected to last all the way through Thursday. "Scattered to numerous" storms can be expected starting Saturday, the weather service said.

"On any given day, a few storms could be strong with gusty winds, frequent lightning and heavy rainfall," the service said in a hazardous weather outlook.

When it's not raining (and even when it is), it's going to be warm this weekend. We've got highs of 89, 88 and 89 forecast for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The chance of rain is only 20 percent on Friday, jumping to 30 percent on Saturday and 50 percent on Sunday.

Friday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 89. Southeast wind around 5 m.p.h. Friday night, a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 10 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 70. Southeast wind around 5 m.p.h.
Saturday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 m.p.h. in the afternoon. A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Saturday night, mainly before 8 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. Southwest wind around 5 m.p.h. becoming calm in the evening.
Sunday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 89. Calm wind becoming west around 5 m.p.h. in the afternoon. Sunday night, a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71.
