Georgia Weather: Snow Flurries, Below-Zero Wind Chill Monday
Metro Atlanta will see dangerous wind chills and temperatures plunging into the single digits, according to the National Weather Service.

ATLANTA, GA — Metro Atlanta awoke to some snow flurries on New Years' Day, with forecasters warning of dangerously low temperatures and wind chill to come.
The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory and special weather statement for much of north Georgia, with a forecast that calls for a low temperature of 16 degrees Monday night and wind chills that will make it feel as low as five degrees below zero.
The advisory lasted until 11 a.m. Monday morning and will go back into effect from 7 p.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Anticipated wind chill values from zero to negative-5 degrees could cause frostbite and hypothermia if precautions aren't taken, according to the weather service.
The coldest part of the area will be along and north of a line from Carrollton to Canton to Cleveland, the NWS said. The advisory is in effect for counties including Cherokee, Clarke, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Forsyth, Gwinnett, Hall, Fulton, Paulding, Oconee.

The cold weather is coming from an Arctic mass that forecasters say will persist in the area through the coming week. Several mornings will have widespread low temperatures in the teens and lower 20s, with lows hitting the single digits in the north Georgia mountains.
Sunday morning, much of metro Atlanta saw snow flurries early. Measurable accumulations weren't being reported, although some areas received a light dusting.

New Year's Day: Scattered snow flurries before 2 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 32. North wind 10 to 15 m.p.h., with gusts as high as 20 m.p.h. Monday night, clear, with a low around 16. North wind 5 to 10 m.p.h., with gusts as high as 20 m.p.h.
Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 35. North wind around 5 m.p.h. Mostly cloudy Tuesday night, with a low around 20.
Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 40. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 m.p.h. in the afternoon. Wednesday night, mostly clear, with a low around 21.
Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 33. Mostly clear Thursday night, with a low around 18.
Friday: Sunny, with a high near 34. Friday night, mostly clear, with a low around 19.
