Great family hikes Near Atlanta
Get yourself and the kids outside to enjoy the crisp fall weather with these kid friendly hikes just a few hours from Atlanta.

Fall and winter are the best times to bundle up and hit the hiking trails. It's a great way to get some exercise over the holidays and stave off those extra party pounds. Here are three perfect family hikes within two hours of Atlanta.
Atlanta History Center. In addition to the museum and historic homes, the AHC’s 33-acre campus also boasts the Goizueta Gardens, six distinct gardens among 22 acres of green space. From the Swan Woods to the Sims Asian Garden, you'd never know the city was just outside the gates as you walk among trees and native Georgia plant species. Pose the kids on the Quarry Bridge for a beautiful family photo with the gardens in the background.
Lake Nottely Trail.This waterfront hike is an easy 1.7 mile wooded stroll around beautiful Lake Nottely in Blairsville, Ga. just two hours from downtown Atlanta. Access to the Trail is approximately 1 mile past Nottely Dam on the left when coming from 129. It's a bit hard to find, so if you hit the dam, you've gone too far.

Old Car City. Ok, so this isn't a regular hiking trail, but if you have restless little ones (or big ones) they might enjoy walking through all the old junk cars at Old Car City in White, Ga., just an hour north of downtown Atlanta. Be sure to visit owner Walter Lewis' styrofoam cup collection before you leave!
