Highland Games Returns to Stone Mountain Park This Weekend

One of the largest Scottish Heritage Festivals is taking place this weekend at Stone Mountain Park with music, games, animals, food and more

The Stone Mountain Highland Games takes place this weekend, Oct. 21-22 at Stone Mountain Park. Kids of all ages will be completely enthralled watching athletes heave full trees across the fields, but this Scottish Heritage Festival is about more than just sport. Expect to see over 30 pipe and drum bands, Scottish dancing, and border collie herding demonstrations. This is also a great place to try the Scottish delicacy, haggis.

The traditional Scottish Highland Games are serious competition where athletes are sponsored and contend for national and international standing. While you may be familiar with the most famous event, the caber (Gaelic for tree because it is!) toss there are many more events such as the sheaf toss and hammer throw.
