Hold Onto Your Hat, it's Going to be a Blustery Day

It's going to get cold tonight, cold enough to freeze your plants and put frost on your windshield – and ruin your sensitive outdoor plants. A freeze warning is in effect from 1 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

While today will be mostly sunny with a high near 56, it will feel cooler than that when the northwest wind picks up, reaching 15-20 mph in the afternoon and gusts as high as 35 mph. A wind advisory goes into effect from 10 a.m. this morning to 1 a.m. Wednesday.

With temperatures in the mid to upper 20s overnight, wind chill readings will drop into the teens tonight. If you still have sensitive outdoor plants, you should make preparations to protect them with these freezing temperatures.

Watch out for flying objects: Your patio furniture and trash cans could be blown around by these gusting winds unless they are heavy or secured. And winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. So use extra caution on the roads

Tonight will be mostly clear, but that low will drop to around 26, well below freezing. The north wind of 15-20 mph will decrease to 10-15 mph by midnight, with wind gusts still reaching as high as 35 mph.

We'll get little relief from cooler temperatures on Wednesday as the high will be near 49. The wind will slow a bit to 5-10 mph, but gusts will reach as high as 20 mph.

Wednesday night will again be chilly with a low around 27. That north wind will finally become calm in the evening.
