LaAmistad Awarded $5K to Support English Classes in Sandy Springs

The grant was endowed by the Episcopal Community Foundation for Middle and North Georgia

ATLANTA, GA (10/27/2020) – LaAmistad Inc., a leading 501c3 non-profit serving Latino students and families in the Atlanta area, received a $5,000.00 grant to support its English for Successful Living program. The grant was endowed by the Episcopal Community Foundation for Middle and North Georgia.


Funds will be used to increase local access to affordable English fluency classes at Holy Innocents' Episcopal Church, one of LaAmistad's longest standing ESL partners. The award is allocated for marketing and student recruitment.


"LaAmistad's English for Successful Living (ESL) Program continues to grow each year with the invaluable support of donors, grants, partners, staff and volunteers,” said Briana Jackson, LaAmistad's ESL Director. “It is partners like the Episcopal Community Foundation that help provide the ESL program with resources and support needed to continue improving the lives of our students and their families. On behalf of the ESL program, we are ecstatic and honored. We look forward to utilizing these marketing resources to prepare even more students and families for success through our academic and life enrichment ESL program."

Fall session of LaAmistad ESL began on October 5th . 80 students currently participate in LaAmistad's online English classes.


LaAmistad is a community-supported non-profit organization working to empower Latino students and families to achieve their dreams. We utilize a holistic programming structure that includes after school tutoring, parent education, English language courses, and educational Summer enhancement programs.
