At Least Nine Arrested At Buckhead Climate Change Protest
The latest in a series of rallies against climate change in Atlanta resulted in several arrests Friday morning in Buckhead.
ATLANTA — Several people were arrested Friday during a climate change protest in Buckhead. According to Atlanta police, at least nine people were arrested for allegedly attempting to block the southbound lanes of Peachtree Road as they approached Piedmont Road.
Police were expecting a large turnout for the latest in a series of climate change rallies that began last Friday downtown. Youths from around the world and across the United States staged a strike to demand an end to fossil fuels and reductions in corporate pollution and environmental destruction.
While there were several events in Atlanta that day, another rally, this one called the Southeast Climate Strike and Rebellion, took place on Friday, Sept. 27. Police were warning the public that Friday morning's rally could impact local traffic.
