ATLANTA — A pair of teens were arrested Sunday in connection with the shooting of a Lenox Square Mall security guard in Buckhead.
Two 15-year-olds, one male and one female, are each being charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault, tampering with evidence, and gun possession charges, police said.
“They approached the security guard at gunpoint,” Atlanta Police Deputy Chief Tim Peek told reporters Sunday evening.

According to police reports, officers called to Lenox Square around 8:30 p.m. Sunday found the mall security officer outside the building with a gunshot wound. The guard, in his 40s, was hospitalized in serious condition, authorities said.
Witnesses described the suspects and police began searching a thigh perimeter set up around the mall before the suspects eventually were found and captured at a nearby hotel, Peek said.

Police dogs employed in the search were also able to find a firearm near the scene of the crime, police said.
Police have stepped up patrols in Buckhead as violent crime has risen in the high-end community.
“The great success to this incident was the simple fact that we’ve gone live with our 2021 summer plan that gave us a multitude of police units in the actual footprint,” Peek said. “Dozens of officers were able to respond.”
