LeVangie Hill Davis, 95: Former Midtown, Buckhead Resident

LeVangie Hill Davis, 95, of Roswell and formerly of Atlanta, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, the 20th of November, 2013, after living a long and blessed life.
She was born on the 14th of June, 1918 in Stillmore, GA, to Martha Sutton Hill and Ged Fleming Hill. She was blessed with 10 brothers and sisters, most of whom have preceded her in death.
Vangie, as a young woman, left her small town in South Georgia and moved to the big city of Atlanta, where she lived with her older sister, Pat, in an apartment in what is now Midtown.Then she met the love of her life, her husband, Arthur Terrell Davis. They enjoyed forty-four happy years together until his death in 1984.
As a couple they raised four children, traveled around the world, were active participants in the Atlanta Restaurant Association, the Georgia Restaurant Association, as well as the National Restaurant Association. They were staunch supporters of and contributors to the Atlanta Baptist College and Mercer University, and longtime members of Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church. Vangie had a kind heart, a loving spirit, a wonderful sense of humor, a timeless beauty and sense of style. She was a loving and gracious hostess and always provided a warm cheerful home for her family and cherished friends.
Vangie and Ted moved to West Paces Ferry Road in Buckhead when their children were small. The road was more country than city back then with no street lights and little traffic. The children had 11 acres to explore from their house on the hill. Vangie and Ted hosted huge Christmas dinners each year for family and friends. The annual Easter egg hunt and picnic was another big event. The house was always filled with friends, family, warmth and laughter. She leaves behind many joyful memories for all those whose lives she touched. She was the heart and soul of her family and kept them close to her always. She loved Gardening. She loved the Atlanta Braves. She especially loved playing bridge with her friends over the years.She was a charter member of the Cherokee Town and Country Club, as well as a member of the Northside Women's Club, The Rabun Gap Nachoochee Guild, and The Lord's Day Alliance.
Her parents, nine of her siblings, and her late husband, Ted, all preceded her in death.
She is survived by her sister, Louise Kersey of Douglas, Georgia. She also leaves behind a daughter, Sherry Davis Fagerness, and her husband, John; sons, Arthur Terrell Davis, Jr., and wife, Wanda; Ronald Edward Davis and wife, Linda; and James Huey Davis. She also leaves behind ten devoted grandchildren whom she loved dearly: John Fagerness, Jr., David Fagerness, Laura Lee Simmons (Jon), Kristi Ballard (Scott), Marianna Cooney (Bill), Suzanne Beard (Dave), Jimmy Davis, Jr. (Michelle), Scott Davis, Alan Davis (Courtney), and Christopher Davis; Step-grandchildren, Jason Kusak, Jason Twilley, and Matt Adams; Eleven great-grandchildren, Logan, Olivia, and Tate Simmons; Skylar, Jack, and Dylan Ballard; Catie Cooney, Walker and Kaitlyn Davis; Matthew and Ryan Davis; and Asher Davis; and step-great-grandchildren, Madison, and Winnie Twilley. She also is survived by loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday, Nov. 25, 2013 at 11 o'clock at Patterson's Arlington Chapel. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Vangie's memory to Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church, 2715 Peachtree Road, NE, Atlanta, Georgia 30305.
Friends are cordially invited to visit with the family Sunday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock and one hour prior to the service at H. M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
