Obituary and service information from H.M. Patterson & Son-Oglethorpe Hill Chapel.

Frank A. Procopio passed away December 30, 2015, surrounded by his loving family after a valiant battle with a terminal neurological disease (SCA). He was born August 26, 1939 in Shamokin, Pennsylvania to Mary and Vincent Procopio. Mary was born in the US, and Vincent immigrated to the US from Italy through Ellis Island with hopes and dreams for an incredible life for his future generations. Frank was the embodiment of those aspirations and lived his life with love, compassion, exuberance and an ironclad work ethic.
As a young man, Frank was a superior academic, athlete and humanitarian. While in high school, Frank lettered in four sports - football, basketball, baseball and track. While excelling in each, football was his passion. He received multiple college football scholarships, including an appointment to the US Naval Academy. Frank accepted a scholarship from Susquehanna University where he was a star fullback, president of his fraternity - Lambda Chi Alpha, and met the love of his life Lou, who would later become his wife of more than 50 years, and mother of his two daughters Lisa and Maura. True to his work ethic and compassion for humanity, Frank worked summers throughout college at the Ford Motor Company, while also working at a local school for disabled children. Frank graduated from Susquehanna University with a degree in Mathematics and Chemistry.
Upon graduation, Frank accepted a position as a chemist with Armstrong World Industries in Lancaster, PA. After years of cultivating an awarded career in the textile industry, Frank joined Mohawk Industries in 1981. Throughout his 20-year career with the company, Frank held multiple senior leadership positions in manufacturing, sales and product development. Ultimately, Frank became President of Mohawk’s commercial business, Executive Vice President of the company and held a seat on the Board of Directors. He was a member of the management team that led the LBO of Mohawk Carpet from the Mohasco Corporation in 1988 and the subsequent IPO of Mohawk Industries in 1992. Frank also served on the Board of Directors of ParaChem and Easter Seals of Middle Georgia.
