In Loving Memory of Gladys Bailey Webb, 89

Gladys Bailey Webb, 89, of Atlanta, GA died October 13, 2015, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

She was born January 28, 1926 in Notasulga, AL to Thomas Smith and Lessie Lee and was in the Baptist Children’s home in Troy, Alabama from the ages 9 to 18. Gladys moved to Atlanta, GA where she started her family and was married to Donald Webb as well as a member of Valley Brook Baptist Church in Decatur, GA. Gladys resided in Marietta, GA close to family in her later years and was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church. Gladys worked for the US Government at the Veteran’s Hospital and retired in 1984. She enjoyed spending time with her family, attending church, watching the stock market, and making people laugh. Gladys always had a way of bringing light, humor, and love into any room she entered and will be greatly missed. Gladys was one of twelve children.

She is survived by two children, daughter, Linda Adams Brown (married to George Brown) and son, Bill Bailey (married to Jane Bailey); two grandchildren, Ashley McClain (married to Daniel McClain) and Tyler Bailey; one great-grandchild, Linley McClain; siblings, Raymond Paul Leroy, Tommy Smith, Joe D. Smith, Vivian Miller, Mae Owens, and Mary Lou Webster. She is preceded in death by siblings, Frank Smith, Percy Smith, Johnny Smith, George Smith, and Maple Smith.

A viewing will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta, GA. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday in the Chapel at the funeral home. Entombment will be held at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 41 Perimeter Center E. Ste. 550 Atlanta, GA 30346.
