In Loving Memory of John L. "Jack" Underwood, IV, 63
Obituary and service information from H.M. Patterson & Son-Spring Hill Chapel in Atlanta.

Jack was born to Elizabeth Shepley Brophy and John L. Underwood, III on July 18, 1962 in Atlanta. He passed away October 20, 2015 at Brighton Gardens of Buckhead in Atlanta. He attended McClatchy Grammar School, Sutton Middle School, Marist, Darlington and Galloway High Schools. From there he went to the US Marine Corps, then attended what was at that time Southern Tech. He married Jaqueline Pement and had two children, Daniel and Lauren.
He worked with the family company until 1987 and started Lockwood Marine in Shellman Bluff, Georgia with his dad. He had the misfortune to acquire severe injuries to both his head (TBI) and hip in an auto accident while in the city for the Atlanta Boat Show in 1992. Lockwood Marine continued on to become one of the top 100 boat dealers in the US of which he was very proud.
His health was plagued by these injuries from age 29 until his death. His life was further challenged this year by a brave but futile battle with Squamous Cell Cancer.
He was predeceased by both sets of grandparents, Elizabeth and Raymond Shepley of West Palm Beach and Ellen and John L. Underwood, Jr. of Atlanta -- also his most beloved and faithful dog, Bruno.
He leaves behind his two children, Stephanie Lauren Underwood and Daniel Levi Underwood (Lisa) plus his new granddaughter Martha Elaine. He also leaves his parents Elizabeth Shepley Brophy (Tom) and John L. Underwood, III (Bunny), brother - Douglas Mitchell Underwood, sisters - Ellen Elizabeth Underwood, Jennifer Rae Robbins (John) and Ann Beatrice Stephenson (Lori). Nephews Thomas and Boone Robbins and uncle Raymond Shepley, Jr. (Flo) complete the family.
The family requests that in lieu flowers, contributions in his memory be made to HART of McIntosh County, the county animal rescue shelter, if desired. The address is 1184 Animal Shelter Drive, SW – Darien, Georgia 31305. (hartofmcintosh.com)
The immediate family will gather in Atlanta for a celebration of Jack’s life, and a memorial service at the family marina near his coastal home will be announced later.
