In Loving Memory of Kenneth Raymond Butler, 61

Kenneth Raymond Butler, long-time resident of Brookhaven, GA, expired at his home after a brief illness on Sunday, December 20, 2015, surrounded by loved ones.Raymond, affectionately known as “Ray Ray,” was born to the late Msgt. Chester R. and Juanita Phillips Butler at Ft. McPherson (Atlanta), GA, on June 12, 1954. Father of Sarah Melissa Butler, brother of M. Wayne (Frances) and Mark J. (Lael) Butler, GailButler Newchurch, half-brother of the late Chester Thomas Butler, uncle of BrianButler, Randy and Craig Newchurch, and devoted friend Candace Allison.

The Butlers lived and traveled as a military family throughout the South and spent two years in Karlsruhe, Germany. Raymond, who graduated from Columbia High School (MS) in 1972, attended Pearl River Junior College, was a well-respected Master Electrician who always greeted friends and customers with a ready smile and quick wit. He was a former Boy Scout, acolyte at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, a volunteer for Atlanta Habitat for Humanity and Habitat for Humanity International Global Village, an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and riding his motorcycles. Music was a passion. Forever the pet lover, he owned many dogs over the years. His pride and joy are four parrots: an African grey named Teddy and three green Amazons: Jade, Jack and Tsunami (Sue) who will miss their daily talks with him, as will a host of family and friends.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 26, at 11:00 am at H.M. Patterson and Son Oglethorpe Hill in Brookhaven. The family will receive friends from 9:30 am until the time of the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice.
