Man Accused Of Killing Kennedy Maxie Back In Atlanta Jail

Daquan Reed extradited from Virginia to Fulton County Jail on murder charges for Buckhead shooting death of 7-year-old in December.

ATLANTA — The man accused of killing a 7-year-old girl during a shootout in Buckhead last year has been extradited from Virginia.

Daquan Reed, 24, who is charged with murder and related offenses in the December 21 shooting death of Kennedy Maxie, was booked into the Fulton County Jail on Tuesday, according to police reports and jail records.

Maxie was riding in the car with her mother in aunt near Phipps Plaza when gunfire erupted and a stray bullet struck her in the head, killing the young girl.

Police secured an arrest warrant for Reed eight days later, charging him with felony murder -- causing a death while committing a felony -- possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and reckless conduct. Investigators began a manhunt that eventually led them, along with U.S. Marshals, to Hampton, VA, where Reed was arrested.

He remains in jail pending court hearings.
