Mercedes-Benz Gets Naming Rights for Falcons Stadium

The announcement will be made on Monday, according to a report.

The Atlanta Falcons’ new stadium has a new name.

Atlanta Business Chronicle reports that German automaker Mercedes-Benz has acquired the naming rights for the stadium, which is expected to be complete by 2017. Neither Mercedes-Benz nor the Falcons have officially commented on the deal as of Friday.

Mercedez-Benz has expanded its presence in Atlanta with the relocation of its U.S. headquarters from New Jersey to Sandy Springs, and is expected to have the new facility ready around the same time as the Falcons’ new stadium, the Chronicle says.

The company also owns the naming rights for the Superdome in New Orleans, the home of the Falcons’ most hated rivals. When the Falcons and Saints face off in 2017, they could be playing in stadiums with the same name.
