New Hawks Owner Talks Arenas

The new owner of the Atlanta Hawks has begun discussions with Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed on either a new or revamped arena for the basketball team.

Anthony Ressler announced on his first day of owning the team that either Philips Arena would need to be remodeled or the team would need to seek a new arena location in the city. Reed has met with Ressler and said during a Thursday press conference that he would be amenable to allocating public money for a new arena under the right conditions.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the Hawks are eyeing at least three sites in the city for a new arena, including the Atlanta Civic Center.
