Rodent Droppings, Toxic Chemicals Stored Near Food Prep, Service Area in Health Inspections

From the Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness, here are the results of some recent area food and tourist inspections in Atlanta that received "U" or "C" grades last week. Businesses scoring a "U" will be reinspected as soon as a week later. A list of restaurants in Buckhead and nearby communities that earned an "A" or "B" follows the lower scores.

• Observed facility utilizing MSG and no information provided to the public.  New Violation.
• Observed failure to store toxic chemical spray bottles away from food prep and service area.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
• Observed potentially hazardous food (raw chicken) thawed at room temperature.  New Violation.

• Detail clean the entire facility.

Failure to remove cloth liners from shelves.  New Violation.

Clean the basement storage area. Seal all openings in wall in the basement.

Provide floor drain cover by prep sink.  New Violation.

Observed rodent activity as evidenced by rodent droppings (4) found in basement. Must treat aggresively.  New Violation.

Remarks: After communicating the issue with supervisor Barney W. Harmon, it was determined that the facility needs to provide a updated copy of pest control report stating pest control is at 100%. Also, the facility must update contract increasing the frequency from a quarterly to a monthly service.

• Observed entire pan of spicy chicken out of temperature.  New Violation.
• Observed a bag of flour on the floor at the frying station.  Repeat Violation.
• Observed one employee with hair hanging below the hair onto the top of apron. Observed manager without hair restraint.  New Violation.
• Provide wiping cloths and sanitizing buckets for prep areas.  New Violation.
• Current inspection report was not posted.  Repeat Violation.
• Observed debris on gaskets of WICs.  Repeat Violation.
