Special Musical Offering at Covenant Presbyterian Church Dec. 23

The Church's choir will present a seasonal musical offering of "Small Dancing Light" on the fourth Sunday of Advent (Dec. 23) at 11 a.m.

Covenant Presbyterian Church’s adult choir will present a seasonal musical offering of "Small Dancing Light" during the fourth Sunday of Advent worship service, Dec. 23 at 11 a.m. The choir will be accompanied by organ and chamber orchestra, and the music will be interspersed with scripture reading and prayer. All are welcome to attend the service at 2461 Peachtree Road in Buckhead. Free parking is available on the top deck of Peachtree Battle Shopping Center immediately south of the church.

"Small Dancing Light" by Taylor Scott Davis, in collaboration with Terry W. York, is a cantata, a work for voices and instruments from the baroque era. It includes six original texts and three congregational hymns which focus on the themes of anticipation and revelation. Images of these themes are presented through each of the texts, pointing toward the small dancing light in a manger.

“Anticipation and revelation are two words which help us focus on the meaning of Advent. This particular cantata explores how the images and rituals of Advent emerge before the Word itself is revealed,” said Rev. Dr. Richard Hill, Covenant’s senior pastor.
