State Lawmaker-Elect Buys BrianKemp.com From California Democrat

A California Democrat was using BrianKemp.com to redirect to StaceyAbrams.com, before a Georgia Republican bought the domain.

ATLANTA, GA -- A California Democrat and Stacey Abrams supporter named Brian Kemp had been using his website, BrianKemp.com, to forward to StaceyAbrams.com. That was, until last week, when a state lawmaker-elect in Georgia, Colton Moore, purchased the domain for an undisclosed sum. Both Abrams and Kemp are locked in a virtual tie in the race for Georgia governor, an election that has made national headlines.

“I found it difficult to stand by and watch Democrats abuse our future governor’s campaign like this," said Moore who, like Kemp, is a UGA graduate. "After seeing this and other Brian Kemp and Abrams’ supporters rent a plane with a sign in tow at the UGA football game that read 'Brian Kemp says Go Vols!,' I'd had enough.”

To secure the domain name, Moore turned to Forbes’ domain expert and CEO at VPN.com, Michael Gargiulo, to broker and facilitate the domain name acquisition. Moore said the exact price is under a non-disclosure agreement and that he used personal funds to acquire the domain name.

"BrianKemp.com had been redirected to Stacey Abrams’ website for nearly six months and for us to take it back from her and her Democrats gives Georgia Republicans and myself great satisfaction,” Moore said.

Moore will be sworn in as the youngest Representative ever for Georgia’s 1st District on January 14, 2019.

Early voting began Monday in Georgia's governor's race and the rest of the state's midterm elections.

In a state where Democrats have not won the governorship since 2002, Abrams is campaigning hard in an effort to turn out people who have not traditionally voted at the polls.Kemp, meanwhile, is touting his conservative credentials, hoping that's enough to turn back the tide of an electorate that, particularly in metro Atlanta, has grown more diverse and less staunchly conservative in recent years.
