Suspicious Package Closes Portion of Piedmont Road on Thursday
The package was found to be harmless, just clothing and personal effects, police said.
A package found to contain clothing and personal effects caused portions of Piedmont Road to be closed for a short time on Thursday.
Gregory Lyon, an Atlanta police spokesman, said SWAT teams investigated reports of a suspicious package near the intersection of Piedmont and Darlington roads. A nearby apartment complex was evacuated as a precaution.
Shortly before 2 pm on Thursday, the package was determined to be harmless.

Channel 2 Action News reported that Piedmont Road between E. Wesley and Pharr Roads had been shut down.
