ATLANTA, GA -- The Westminster Schools recently received some major kudos on the regional and national level. WCAT, the school's student-run web TV station, was awarded two Emmy High School Student Production Awards by the Southeast chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Science.
WCAT won in the Live Sports Event category for coverage by Bennet Porson and William Turton of the second-round state playoff game against Savannah High School in November. WCAT also was recognized in the Audio/Sound category for production work by Alex Bean (2016) and Andrew Shackelford (2016) on Owen Ladner's (2017) performance of “Across The Universe” for the WCAT SoundStage.
WCAT was also named the “Best Overall School Broadcast Program” in the nation by the National Federation of State High Schools Network. The accolade goes to the school that best benefits its community and school.
