Army Corps Wants Your Christmas Trees To Improve Allatoona Fish Habitat

Starting Dec. 26, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will provide 6 drop-off sites in Cartersville, Woodstock, Canton and Acworth.

Starting Dec. 26, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Allatoona Lake Project Office will offer six locations where residents can drop off their undecorated Christmas trees.

The six drop-off locations for the 2014-15 holiday season are:

  • Victoria Day Use in Woodstock;
  • Galt’s Day Use in Acworth
  • Sweetwater Campground overflow parking area in Canton;
  • Payne Boat Ramp in Acworth
  • Blockhouse 1 (behind Paw Paw’s Convenience Store) fishing jetty in Acworth; and
  • Bethany Bridge fishing jetty parking area in Cartersville

All drop-off sites will be marked with flagging tape and residents can begin dropping off their trees the day after Christmas.

The trees collected will be utilized as part of the fish habitat improvement program, a partnership between federal, state and local governments, as well as several group organizations and businesses.

Also, Bartow County residents can check the county’s website for tree drop off locations set up by Keep Bartow Beautiful.
