Bruce Thompson Welcomes 'Mama Mona' To Serve as Chaplain of the Day
The state senator from White welcomed the Rev. Mona Harper to serve on Tuesday, Feb. 9.

Sen. Bruce Thompson (R- White) and Lt. Governor Casey Cagle welcomed Rev. Mona Harper to serve as Chaplain of the Day on Tuesday, Feb. 09 in the Georgia State Senate.
“I was honored to have my good friend who many of us call ‘Mama Mona,’ serve as Chaplain of the Day,” said Sen. Thompson. “She spoke to us about the importance of maintaining a solid relationship with the Lord and to those that you interact with every day. Reverend Mona’s message today encouraged my colleagues and me to continue our great track record of praying for each other as we serve our great state.”

Cagle added Harper “inspired each of us with a stirring devotional and prayer.”
“As public servants, we should strive not only to hear the word of the Lord at the beginning of each Senate gathering but to put it in practice with the decisions we make,” he added. “We are blessed to have wonderful leaders like Rev. Harper and I thank her for the inspirational message.”

Pastor Mona Harper serves as the co-pastor at the Kingdom City Church of Stone Mountain. Pastor Harper and her husband Bishop James Harper founded Kingdom City Church in 1994. She is a former journalist, writer and school principal with over 25 years of experience working in ministry.
The Harpers live in Atlanta near their two daughters Morgan Nichols, Jamie Grace and their son-in-law Patrick Nichols.
