Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services responded to a single-story structure fire on Saturday afternoon, just shortly before 12:30, at 596 Hickory Nut Drive, off Reinhardt College Parkway. According to Cherokee County 911, the caller came home and seen smoke inside the house and immediately called 911.  According to Battalion Chief, Thomas Capps, “First units arrived on the scene to find a 1-story residential structure, with smoke and fire showing from the corner of the structure.  Crews on-scene, quickly deployed hose lines for an offensive fire attack and search operations inside the residence. The offensive fire attack and primary search were conducted simultaneously, extinguishing the fire and obtaining an “all clear” for no one inside.” Hickory Nut Drive was shut down, during operations for safety. The owner of the property arrived on the scene to assess the damage and provide important information to the Incident Commander and Fire Investigator According to Cherokee County Fire Investigator, Cheri Collett, the residence was occupied by two adults and the cause of the fire is related to an electrical overload occurring in an extension cord. No injuries were reported.
