Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services and Woodstock Fire and Rescue responded to a structure fire this morning just shortly before 11 o’clock at 3770 Halyard Court in southwestern Cherokee County. A caller to Cherokee County 911 stated that she heard an explosion and the house was on fire.  Firefighters arrived on the scene report that there was heavy fire in the basement going up to the first floor.  Firefighters also requested that the power company be in route as there was also a “live” wire on the ground. The house was occupied by two adult females, ages 45 and 47, who escaped without injury.  According to one of the occupants, she had plugged in a battery to her motor scooter in the basement about 30 minutes before she left the house, but the investigation of the cause continues.  The house received extensive fire, smoke and water damage. There was also reports of cats and dogs being inside the house, but firefighters completed a primary search and stated everything was clear. Roads in the area were blocked until the operation was complete.  No injuries were reported.
