Cherokee County Fire And Emergency Services: MacCracken And Morris Retire From Fire Department

Sgt. Benjamin MacCracken and Sgt. William Morris, firefighters with Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services, were recognized last Friday at a retirement ceremony held in their honor at the fire administrative offices in Canton. Fire Chief, Tim Prather, thanked MacCracken for his 18+ years of service and Morris for his 15+ of service to the citizens of Cherokee County and presented both with a “bugle” award. The bugle or speaking trumpet is a reference to a megaphone like device that was used in the early days of the fire service. MacCracken came to work at the fire department on February 3, 2003, as a firefighter/paramedic and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on January 29th, 2006. Morris also came to work for the department in 2006 and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on January 9th, 2011. Sgt. MacCracken lives in Woodstock with his wife, Kelly, and two boys and Sgt, Morris resides in Cedartown with his wife, Barbara.  We wish them both many happy years of retirement!
